Breaking the silence of more than six months imposed by the COVID pandemic, the Chithrasala Art Gallery of Kerala Lalit Kala Academy in Thrissur witnessed an eloquent exhibition of wildlife photographs by Dr.Krishnakumar Mechoor and Dr. Linto John. The photographs included in the exhibition represented Masai Mara of Africa from a wildlife perspective – animals in their natural habitat, their behavior, their herd interactions, and their movements as well as stillness. Curated by renowned wildlife pictorialist Praveen P. Mohandas, the exhibition’s range of images, the categorization, and the thematic distribution placed it in a liminal space between wildlife documentary and neo-pictorial fine art.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Prabu Mens Sana, Asst. Conservator of Forest, Thrissur, on December 23, 2020. It was organized under the patronage of PhotoMuse, India’s first museum of photography, as part of its committed goal of promoting photography as fine art. The exhibition concluded on December 30th. The online version of the show is available for viewing at http://photomuse.in/index.php/2021/01/05/wild-lyrics-waka-waka-exhibition-of-photography.
