Claudio Parentela is an Italian artist who works with photography, painting, illustration, assemblages, and installations. Oscillating between Dadaism and Surrealism, his works contain ideas that are sometimes cohesive but mostly absurd. The collages he makes reinstate the artist’s statement “My life is a giant collage. I mix it up with photographs and photographs in my life”. On delving deep into the intricacies and nuances, the images open up instances of interaction between humans and the material world, the persistence as well as decadence of memories, contradictions between personal and social histories, love, hate, pain, and the eternal ironies of pleasure.
