Shane Balkowitsch works with the centuries-old process of wet-plate collodion process to create exquisite photographic artifacts of contemporary significance. In this curated body of work chosen from his vast oeuvre, he uses the historic process and its distinct aesthetic to express human emotions, relationships, and concerns of contemporary life. The images make penetrating visual statements about personal life, intimacy, love, grief, dilemmas, and, sometimes, allegorical inquiries into some philosophical uncertainties.
