Theo Berends photographs the indoor and outdoor industrial landscapes as part of his professional as well as personal projects. Recreating the unique characteristics of the built environment – beautiful and brutal, bleak and exuberant, mild and overwhelming – Theo expresses the intense physicality of the industrialized world through explicit objectivity. Occupying the liminal space between a professional product and a personal artwork, Theo’s images question the notions of any such compartmentalization of photography from a broader perspective.
